Here we have a 1980s Schecter PT, or what is also known as the “Saturn” model. Story goes that in September 1979, Pete Townshend’s guitar tech Alan Rogan picked up a custom built Tele-style guitar made from Schecter guitar parts from Manny’s in Manhattan. He introduced it to Townshend during a run of shows at Madison Square Garden. Townshend quickly became attached to the guitar and shortly after had more models built for him by both Schecter and Roger Griffin as backups.

Throughout the years the Schecter PT has gone through many changes and not all guitars are built the same. Some PTs had mahogany bodies, others had alder. Maple necks stayed consistent but fingerboards were offered in rosewood or maple.

This particular Schecter PT was built in the 1980s in the “C” batch. The guitar is finished in a 3-tone burst and features a medium “C” birds eye maple neck, maple fingerboard, Schecter Humbuckers with coil splits, and Floyd rose system. The high output humbuckers pack a punch and clean up wonderfully, especially in single coil mode.

The guitar shows some signs of play. Frets are in great shape but show minor wear on the first two frets. Both the top and back of the body show pick and belt scratches and there are two deeper scratches located bass side by the bridge and by the output jack. The back of the neck has a couple dings by the headstock.

Original hardshell case included. Tremolo arm is not included.
